New Book–Equality at Home:why we argue about the washing up and how to stop

I’ve written a book with my pal Helen Beebee. Couples of stripes and flavours often find themselves arguing about the division of domestic labour, from the washing-up, to doing the laundry, tor organising social life, holidays, and, when they’re in the picture, sorting out the kids.

Our book is about the causes of those arguments. And it’s about different way of responding to those argument.

There’s a lot unfairness in the division of domestic labour. And so, some complaints about that are fair and reasonable. But since complaining doesn’t always—and maybe even rarely—lead to the changes that couples seek, it makes sense to look at different ideas.
